About
Shifting the Paradigm
Family-based treatments have an over 40-year history showing them to be effective for a variety of childhood mental health challenges, such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, pathological demand avoidance, oppositional-defiant disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, emotionally-based school avoidance, self-harm,
and more.
The 2027 conference is open to both clinicians and parents. Our aim is to bring together experts in the field to discuss the latest family-based treatment advances, along with the wisdom and lived experience of parents. Clinicians and parents will learn from each other, and both will return home knowing what current therapies, interventions, and strategies can help the most. By combining our knowledge, expertise, and experience, we can learn what actually works with these kids.
The conference is packed with exceptional lectures, breakout sessions and
panel discussions.

A Welcome Message Parents
It's our goal to make this conference something you and your family can make the most of.
To this end, we welcome you bringing and sharing your own family's situation so you can make the best use of the speakers' clinical expertise and the lived experience of other parents.
The conference will include a round table of experts. We will give as many parents as possible an opportunity to tell their own story and seek out advice from some of the most experienced clinicians in the world.
We're here to help your child and would love an opportunity to do so.
A Welcome Message to Clinicians
We welcome any mental health professional no matter what your professional background and experience. The conference is open to psychologists, psychiatrists, LMFTs, LCSW, LPCCs, and so on, as well as clinicians just starting out who have a passion for working with families.
Your expertise is valued and we hope you will feel comfortable joining in the discussion.
If you have interesting ideas, an innovative treatment approach, or new research to share, please consider submitting a proposal to become one of our speakers.
